Nintendo Direct July 2025: All the news, announcements and trailers

Nintendo didn’t have a lot to show at the latest Nintendo Direct, but its third-party partners sure did! During a new Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase broadcast on Thursday, major publishers and indie developers revealed what they’re bringing to Nintendo Switch 2 (and the original Switch) in 2025 and beyond.

That includes a new Monster Hunter game from Capcom for Switch 2, two new HD-2D role-playing games from Square Enix, a new Katamari game, and the return of Plants vs. Zombies. Plus, we even got a new look at Legend of Zelda spinoff Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.

Here’s every big announcement from Nintendo’s latest Direct presentation.

Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection

Capcom surprised Switch 2 owners with a reveal of the next Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Stories 3 Twisted Reflection, a new adventure in the spinoff Stories series coming sometime in 2026.

A new entry in the HD-2D RPG that started it all, Octopath Traveler 0 is headed to Switch and Switch 2 on Dec. 4.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales

But that’s not all that Square Enix had planned for its HD-2D brand. A new game, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, is an original adventure that stars Elliot (of course) and his fairy friend Faie in a story that will last a thousand years. The Adventures of Elliot is headed to Switch 2 in 2026.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment

Still no release date beyond “winter,” but here’s a new look at the Dynasty Warriors-style brawler set in the Legend of Zelda universe, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment.

A new entry in the Katamari Damacy series is coming to the original Switch. The classic roll-’em-up is getting a new entry with a classic feel soon: Once Upon A Katamari comes to Switch on Oct. 24.

Plants vs Zombies Replanted

EA and PopCap Games are bringing classic Plants vs. Zombies action to Switch and Switch 2 with Plants vs Zombies: Replanted. In addition to old school gardening-on-undead strategic action, there’s local co-op and PvP. This remaster of the OG Plants vs. Zombies experience launches Oct. 23.

You may already be awash in massive role-playing games for Switch 2 this year, but make room for Persona 3 Reload, which is coming to Switch 2 on Oct. 23.

EA’s soccer franchise is coming to Switch and Switch 2 on Sept. 26.

Bandai Namco is bringing its HD remaster of Pac-Man World 2 to both Switch and Switch 2 on Sept. 26.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 (and Kiwami)

Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are brawling their way onto Nintendo Switch 2 on Nov. 13. The original Kiwami was already on Switch, but the Switch 2 version will look soooo much better.
