Nintendo announces new Nintendo Direct for September 2025
The next Nintendo Direct is coming on Friday, Sept. 12, Nintendo announced via its Nintendo Today app. September’s Nintendo Direct showcase is expected to focus on upcoming games for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 coming in 2025 and beyond.
This week’s Nintendo Direct will start at 9 a.m. EDT/6 a.m. PDT and run approximately 60 minutes. The showcase will stream on Nintendo’s YouTube and Twitch channels, and through the Nintendo Today app.
Nintendo’s upcoming lineup includes Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Kirby Air Riders, and Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which are due in 2025; and Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, which are expected in 2026. Nintendo will also mark the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros. — originally released for the Famicom on Sept. 13, 1985 — this year, and if the company plans to go as big as that game’s 35th birthday, expect some celebratory announcements.
September’s Nintendo Direct follows a flurry of similar showcases from Nintendo. In July, the company held a Partner Showcase that focused on third-party games for Switch and Switch 2. That was followed by an Indie World and a dedicated Nintendo Direct for Kirby Air Riders.
