While speculation is still running rampant about who the next James Bond will be, Daniel Craig is continuing to enjoy his post-007 career solving mysteries in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out films. The third entry in the series, Wake Up Dead Man, doesn’t arrive on Netflix until Dec. 12, but it’s already racking up rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival.

For everyone who has to wait months to see Benoit Blanc’s next case, Wake Up Dead Man’s trailer provides a first look at the crime and the suspects. Monsignor Jefferson Wicks (Josh Brolin) gives a fiery sermon, walks into a sealed concrete room in his church, and is found lying dead 30 seconds later. The death is so mysterious, that some members of the congregation – like the devout Martha Delacroix (Glenn Close) – view it as an unsolvable holy mystery.

But that doesn’t deter Benoit Blanc. In what is being billed as “his most dangerous case yet” and the “darkest chapter” in the Knives Out series, he teams up with police chief Geraldine Scott (Mila Kunis) and Wicks’ new assistant priest Jud Duplenticy (Josh O’Connor) to unravel the mystery. While there are no obvious suspects, the investigation will require questioning the church’s small congregation including the town doctor (Jeremy Renner), a lawyer (Kerry Washington), and a best-selling author (the always suspicious Andrew Scott).

Wake Up Dead Man will have a limited theatrical release on Nov. 26 before dropping on Netflix on Dec. 12. We’re praying this neo-Gothic mystery will be as good as it sounds.
