The Gathering reveals 6 new Secret Lair Superdrops for Spider-Man set
If you thought we were done revealing new cards from Magic: The Gathering‘s Spider-Man crossover set, you were wrong. On Sept. 8, MTG publisher Wizards of the Coast unveiled a full suite of Secret Lair packets combining classic Magic cards with sweet new Spider-Man art — all from artists who have a history of working on Marvel comics.
There are six in total, and we’ll break them all down below. However, the most exciting (at least in my opinion) is “Venom Unleashed,” which features a mix of some of Magic‘s most sinister cards. That includes Damnation, a high-value board-wipe card originally introduced in the 2007 Planar Chaos. On the second-hand market, Damnation typically runs for anywhere from $20 to $30 depending on its condition, which makes “Venom Unleashed” a smart buy. The sick Venom art, either in full-art or black-and-white, is just a bonus.

Daily Bugle Breaking News
This one was actually revealed earlier in September at PAX West, but it’s too cool not to share here. These special treatments turn classic Magic cards into the front page of the Daily Bugle. A perfect Secret Lair for the J. Jonah Jameson in all of us.

Venom Unleashed (Colors and Inks)
Finally, we’re getting to the good stuff. This Secret Lair pack features five cards that any swamp-loving player may already have their eyes on. Putting them all in one place, with some very fun Venom-focused art, is pretty enticing. You can pick from either the full-art “Colors” version or black-and-white “Inks.” Wizards says that second option only came to be after someone saw the original sketches and decided they looked cool. Personally, I agree.

Mana Symbiote
